The 5-Day Gratitude Shift
What if the next shift you need in your life isn’t about doing more? What if it starts with noticing more?
We can become so focused on what we want next that we forget to appreciate where we are now. The next client, more money, a bigger business, more confidence, the next goal. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more. In fact, I’m a big believer in having goals and creating the life you want. But when your attention is constantly on what you don’t have yet, it becomes very easy to overlook everything that is already working.
That’s where gratitude comes in.
Gratitude Isn’t About Pretending Everything Is Perfect
Sometimes gratitude gets misunderstood. It isn’t about pretending everything is wonderful when it isn’t. It doesn’t mean you stop wanting more, and it certainly doesn’t mean you settle.
You can be grateful for where you are and excited about where you’re going. You can want more money and appreciate what you have. You can want more clients and celebrate the clients you’ve already helped. You can have bigger dreams while acknowledging how much you’ve already achieved.
Gratitude simply asks you to notice. Notice the good, the progress, the opportunities, the people and the little wins that you might normally rush past.
Your Mind Finds What You Look For
Have you ever had one of those days where everything seems to go wrong? You spill your coffee, someone says something that annoys you, something doesn’t go according to plan, and suddenly it feels like the whole day is against you.
Then something wonderful happens and you think, “Wow, I really needed that.”
What changed? Often, it isn’t necessarily the circumstances. Your attention changed.
If you spend your day looking for what’s wrong, what’s missing and what isn’t happening yet, you’ll find plenty of evidence for that. But when you deliberately start looking for what is working, you begin to notice that too.
And that can shift how you feel, think and show up.
Gratitude Can Change the Place You Create From
This is particularly powerful when you’re building a business or working towards a big goal. It’s easy to operate from, “I’m not there yet.”
I’m not earning enough. I don’t have enough clients. I’m not confident enough. I’m not successful enough. I need to do more.
But what happens when you shift to, “Look how far I’ve already come.”
That doesn’t mean you stop growing. It means you stop making your current circumstances evidence that you’re failing.
You begin creating from appreciation rather than constant dissatisfaction. And that can change your energy, your decisions and your willingness to see possibilities.
The 5-Day Gratitude Shift
This is why I created the 5-Day Gratitude Shift. For five days, I’m inviting you to stop focusing exclusively on what’s missing and start looking for evidence of what is already working.
You don’t need hours or a complicated journal. Just a few intentional minutes each day.
Day 1 — My Life
Ask yourself: What are three things in my life that I’m genuinely grateful for right now?
Don’t overthink it. It could be your family, your home, your morning coffee, your dog, your work or simply having another day to create something new.
Day 2 — My Business
Ask yourself: What is one thing in my business that IS working?
Maybe you’ve had a great conversation. Maybe you helped someone. Maybe you’ve made progress on something you’ve been avoiding. Maybe you’re simply still showing up.
Small doesn’t mean insignificant.
Day 3 — My Growth
Ask yourself: What am I doing today that the old version of me couldn’t?
We often measure ourselves against where we want to be and forget to acknowledge how much we’ve changed.
Think about who you were a year ago. What have you learned? What have you overcome? What decisions do you make differently now?
Day 4 — My People
Ask yourself: Who am I grateful to have in my life, and why?
Take a moment to really appreciate the people who support you, believe in you, challenge you, love you or simply make your life better.
And if you can, tell them. Gratitude becomes even more powerful when it’s expressed.
Day 5 — My Future
Now we’re going to look forward.
Ask yourself: What can I be grateful for as if it has already happened?
Imagine the goal has happened. The business has grown. The money has arrived. You’ve become the woman you wanted to become. You’ve created the life you’ve been working towards.
How would you feel? What would you be grateful for?
Take a moment to experience that feeling.
Don’t Just Think About It — Share It
One of the reasons I love doing this as a challenge is because gratitude doesn’t have to be something we do alone.
Share your answers. Celebrate someone else’s win. Encourage someone. Tell someone what you’re grateful for.
When we change the conversation around us, we can change the energy around us too.
That’s why I’ve opened up my morning routine this week and invited others to join me. Each morning, we take time to practise gratitude and other simple rituals that help us start the day intentionally rather than simply reacting to everything that comes our way.
You Don’t Have to Wait Until You Have More
Perhaps that’s the biggest reminder I want you to take from this.
You don’t have to wait until you have more money, more clients, more confidence, more success, more freedom or more certainty.
You can appreciate your life while you’re still creating it.
And perhaps when you start noticing what is already working, you’ll realise you’re not starting from nothing.
You’re starting from experience, growth, lessons, relationships, achievements and possibility.
That’s a very different place to create from.
So this week, don’t just ask yourself, “What do I want next?”
Also ask, “What can I appreciate right now?”
Because when you stop looking only for what’s missing and start noticing what’s already there, you may discover that you have far more to build from than you realised.
“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.”
And from that place of enough, we can still dream bigger, grow further and create more.
That’s the Gratitude Shift. 💜
